"Sex and the City" Star and the Milwaukee Barista
John Corbett has played an array of lead characters in movies such as "Raising Helen," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," and "Serendipity." Also, he currently plays Michael "Lucky Linkletter" in the F/X series "Lucky." While strolling through Milwaukee, Corbett, like so many everyday people, came in to enjoy a nice and tasty hot treat at a nearby Starbucks. According to Kim, Corbett strolled through the doors and appeared to play it low-key, almost trying not to be noticed by anyone.
Then, he went about ordering his drink. Kim said, "He ordered one of the most common drinks that Starbucks offers, the grande latte." Kim laughed, "Everyone behind the counter starred and whispered because they couldn't believe that it was him. We were all a little excited because he was in our shop! But to our surprise, all of us were a little let down when he did not tip." Proceeding to get his drink at the pick up counter, he sat down in a couch by the fireplace and enjoyed his drink. As he took pleasure from getting away from the chaos of being a celebrity, he sipped his drink while at ease. While he sat on the couch, many other spectators around the cafe, besides the Starbucks Baristas, noticed it was him as well and were murmuring under their breath. Upon finishing his drink, Corbett left the way he entered and decided to relax a bit out on the outside patio and was again being stared at by passing spectators as if he was from another planet.
For Kim, seeing famous people is "just a perk of the job." She also added that one of her regular customers is the all-time famous hitter Robin Yount, from the baseball team here in Milwaukee, The Brewers. Kim said, "He's a big tipper and always get the same drink. A grande, 2 pump, no whip, mocha." For Kim, seeing celebrities is an exciting and interesting part of her job working as a Starbuck Barista and is always looking forward to seeing a star stop in! So when you're on your way to the local coffee shop to get a little piece of your daily fixation, look around, there just might be a celebrity hiding behind their shades.
